In Africa there is also a variety of French, actually a large number of varieties shared by a total of 141 million people spread over almost 35 countries. People who have French as their first or second language in all these regions are included, but it will not involve Francophones living in other countries. So the African continent will be the one with the most French speakers in the world. It should be noted that it came to this continent as a colonial language, but these people who speak it are a large part of the Francophonie.
In each of these countries, the French language is usually spoken with local variations that have to do with pronunciation, and especially with vocabulary.
