The French language in India can be defined as a dialect of French that is spoken by the Indians with those former colonies within French India. These territories are Mahé, Yanam, Pondicherry, the union of Puducherry, Karaikal and Chandannagar within West Bengal. The influence of English is very noticeable in all the regional languages of this country, such as Telugu, Tamil or Malayalam, even Bengali.
There is a great variety of French in India, they correspond to the ancient French colonies and are now distributed as follows:
– Tamil: a total of 60,000 people speak in France, along with 10,000 in Puducherry.
– Telegu: it is spoken in Yanam with 60 people and 10,000 in French.
– Malayali: it is spoken by a maximum of 5000 people within the French countryside.
